Wi-Scuola
|
Wi-Scuola is a research project coordinated by the Regional Public Instruction Ministry of Piedmont and technically
realised by the iXem Labs of Politecnico di Torino.
The general idea is based on the use of low-cost hiperlan technology to make permanent connections between detached primary school buildings located in peripheral mountain or hill valleys and the main headquarter, usually located in more accessible places. The activity resulted in the set-up of and hiperlan network which interconnetcs ten buildng belonging to three different School Institutes, situated in the Basso Monferrato region: Isituto Scolastico Omnicomprensivo di Cerrina Monferrato, Istituto Scolastico Omnicomprensivo di Brusasco, Istituto Scolastico Omnicomprensivo di Crescentino. All the buildings are linked with adequate bandwidth (10 Mb/s minimum throughput). The network has been tested for videolan transmissions and large data exchange, showing an excellent performance. |
