On October 1, 2010, the iXem Labs of Politecnico di Torino initiated the project Verrua senza Fili. Very broad band Internet connectivity, free of charge, directly delivered to the house of each inhabitant of the small (by largely famous) town of Savoy Verrua. The number of users reached, unexpectively, 120 units after four months, 170 units after twelve months (out of a population of just over 600 families). On the basis of this success, by March 1st, iXem Labs have introduced a further value-added services, which include procedures to optimize the energy efficiency and to control the automation of the house with high-speed networking. This is the first domotics experiment with metropolitan extnsion, ever tried in Italy.
